At a time when France is facing its worst recession since the Second World War, many voices are being raised to imagine a post-war world that is less unequal, more respectful of the planet and less dependent on China. This economic reconstruction, its financing and its implementation promise to be complicated. How does the Coronavirus pandemic mark an economic turning point? Can we finally count on European strategic autonomy? Are capitalism and globalisation as we know them living out their final days? Ludovic Subran is Chief Economist of Allianz, Europe's leading insurer and investor. He is also Chief Economist of credit insurer Euler Hermes. Before joining the private sector, Ludovic worked for the World Bank, the United Nations World Food Programme and INSEE.
Ludovic Subran teaches economics at HEC and Sciences Po. A Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, ranked by the Choiseul Institute and Le Figaro as one of France's 100 leaders of tomorrow, Ludovic is also a Foreign Trade Advisor and sits on a number of boards of directors and advisory councils.
He has contributed to a number of books: Hunger and Markets (2006), Disorder in the mints (2015), and Jnderstanding the Economy (2019 and 2020).
Ludovic Subran is a graduate of the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Économique and Sciences Po Paris.
