a pillar of European integration for the Western Balkans
On Monday 6 December 2021, the IHEDN and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs organised a conference on security and the Western Balkans in partnership with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), a regional organisation for coordinating major development and security issues.
Entitled "Strengthening regional security cooperation: a pillar of European integration in the Western Balkans".The conference focused on the current situation and prospects for cooperation in areas such as violent extremism, migratory flows and organised crime.
This conference is part of the French inter-ministerial strategy for the Western Balkans, called for by the French President in 2019.
Bringing together nearly 80 participants from France, the Western Balkans region and the European Commission, it illustrates France's commitment to the development and stabilisation of the region with a view to its integration into the European Union, in particular through the strengthening of regional cooperation, of which the Regional Cooperation Council is a major player.
