After a day spent among the bison of 126e RI, Frédéric Soulierthe Mayor of Brive-la-Gaillarde, warmly welcomed the 48 listeners to the 225e session in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of the IHEDN in the presence of Philippe Laycurassub-prefect of the district and of Jean-Michel Delvertsub-prefect, head of the IHEDN department.
Following a round table discussion on the challenges of local security and cooperation between the national police, the national gendarmerie and the municipal police, chaired by Commissaire divisionnaire William Llisothe Corrèze Departmental Director of Public Security, and Lieutenant-Colonel (TA) Fabrice ChaminandThe mayor of Corrèze, the deputy commander of the Corrèze departmental gendarmerie group, hosted a reception for the audience.

Oradour-sur-Glane Remembrance Centre

The 49 auditors from the 225th session of the IHEDN in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region visited the Oradour-sur-Glane Remembrance Centre on Wednesday 02 February.
Welcomed by the director Mrs Babeth ROBERTThey were then given a guided tour of the Interpretation Centre before discovering the martyred village. They were all captivated by this place of misfortune and suffering, which on 10 June 1944 was wiped out in a matter of hours by the brutal, methodical and deliberate actions of part of the Waffen SS Das Reich division.
There were 643 victims, two-thirds of whom were women and children. Only 7 people survived the massacre. Mr Robert HEBRAS96, is the last living witness to the horror.
Those attending the 225th SR of the IHEDN had the immense privilege of meeting him and hearing the striking testimony of "a simple man, worthy of the greatest" ("Avant que ma voix ne s'éteigne"). The power of this moment will remain the high point of this session.
Minute's silence in tribute to BCH MARTIN

By observing a minute's silence on Thursday 27 January, listeners to 225e regional sessions of the IHEDN joined in the national tribute ceremony to the chief brigadier Alexandre MARTIN, 53e French soldier to have died in the Sahel since 2013.
The soldier in 54e artillery regiment from Hyères (Var) succumbed to his injuries on Saturday 22 January after a mortar attack on the Gao camp in Mali.
He was 24 years old.

Opening of the 225th session in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region
La 225e session of the IHEDN in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region was opened by Lieutenant General Benoît Durieuxthe institute's director, in the Charente-Maritime departmental council room in La Rochelle, in the presence of Mrs Sylvie Marcilly president of the departmental council.
The session's 48 auditors are executives from a wide range of backgrounds, from the public and private sectors, military and civilian. They are involved in high-level strategic thinking, with a regional dimension, based in 4 towns in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region: La Rochelle, Limoges, Brive-la-Gaillarde and Bordeaux.
For 4 weeks, they will benefit from the academic triptych specific to IHEDN: high-level lectures, visits to military, civilian and industrial sites, and committee work.
