Third week
To mark the 3e week of the session in the Pays de la Loire region, the 35 IHEDN auditors were in the Maire-et-Loire department.
In addition to the high-level conferences from which they benefited, and the work carried out within their committee, they made several visits designed to deepen and support their knowledge.
On 12 October, at 6e regiment of engineers in Angers, they saw a dynamic demonstration of how to cross a waterway and talked to the combat divers and naval sappers.
At the Directorate General of Land Technical Armaments, they discovered the climatic chambers in which the army's vehicles are tested to better cope with all types of weather.
On 13 October, at the Écoles militaires in Saumur, they were welcomed by Brigadier General Emmanuel Charpybefore attending a conference on intelligence in external operations and the Matinales du Cadre noir. In the presence of Mr Jean-Roch GailletGeneral Manager of Cadre noir de Saumur - French Horse Institute and horse riding, the Lieutenant-Colonel Thibaut Valette, 38e chief equestrian of the Cadre Noir and team gold medallist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, gave them a tour of the facilities.
After being immersed in the world of armoured vehicles at the Saumur museum, they took part in a commemorative sequence to pay tribute to the battles of the Saumur Cadets, at the Saint-Eusèbe war memorial in Gennes, in the presence of the mayor.
Finally, the auditors were honoured to be received at the prefecture by Pierre Oryprefect of Maine-et-Loire.
The IHEDN warmly thanks General Jean-Philippe Crachthe father of the Arme du Génie for having made available to the audience during this 3e week, the infrastructure of the Engineering School under his command.
For the last week of the 228e session in the Pays de la Loire region, auditors will travel to Nantes from 18 to 21 October 2022.
On Tuesday 27 September 2022, the Vendée Departmental Council hosted the start of the 2e 228 weeke session in the Pays de la Loire region.
After words of welcome from Mr Alain LeboeufIn the afternoon, the audience heard a lecture on France's nuclear deterrent strategy, followed by a presentation on space issues and France's defence space strategy.
The following day, in Les Sables d'Olonne, the auditors were given a presentation on government action at sea, by the maritime gendarmerie, customs, the departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS), the lifeguards at sea (SNSM) and the delegation for the sea and coastline (DDTM).
This maritime sequence naturally continued with a visit to the Ocea shipyard, which specialises in the construction of aluminium ships.
Welcomed by the Colonel Matthieu Mollet On 29 September, the auditors learned about the retraining of military personnel at the Centre militaire de formation professionnelle (CMFP) in Fontenay-Le-Comte.
This 2e The week-long internship gives auditors time to devote to the work of their committee.
First week
On 20 September, Prefect Denis Conus, Deputy Director of the IHEDN, and Emmanuel Aubry, Prefect of the Sarthe region, opened the 228th IHEDN conference.e session in the Pays de la Loire region in Le Mans.

"Drawing lessons in particular from the crises since 2015 and the war in Ukraine, auditors will be immersed in an operational approach to defence and security."
35 auditors from a wide range of professional backgrounds were selected to attend this 4-week session in 4 towns in the Pays de la Loire region: Le Mans, La Roche-sur-Yon, Angers and Nantes.
Auditors will benefit from high-level speakers, visit military and industrial sites and work on a topic within their committee.
They will cover the entire field of intervention of the IHEDN, a public institution reporting to the Prime Minister: military defence, national defence, national security and international security.
Audiences have already attended the first conference, at which they were given a 'panorama of the contemporary world' by Ms Aurélie VittotD. in political science from the IHEDN studies and research department.
What is a regional session?
IHEDN organises regional sessions throughout France.
For 4 weeks, civilian and military managers are trained in military defence, national defence, national security and international security issues.
IHEDN has created a meeting place for these executives from different backgrounds. The current strategic context reminds us of the nation's primary raison d'être: the spirit of defence. With the IHEDN, the students are the actors and ambassadors of this spirit.
