The crisis of multilateralism

Multilateralism, mainly embodied by the United Nations, is currently facing a number of crises: the deadlock in the Security Council, illustrated by the Syrian crisis, the partial implementation of the 2015 Paris climate agreement, the withdrawal of the United States from a number of treaties under Donald Trump, the war in Ukraine, and so on. Despite the transnational nature of today's threats, which require increased cooperation on an international scale, multilateral organisations are struggling to act.

Under the direction of Jean-Vincent Holeindre and Julian Fernandez, both professors at the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris 2), a number of specialists in multilateralism have published a book entitled Disunited nations? The crisis of multilateralism in international relations (2022) of cross-disciplinary analyses of this central phenomenon of international relations. The debate on 6 December aims to understand the difficulties facing multilateralism in the 21st century.e century and to consider possible avenues for reform.

Rendezvous on 06 December at 7pm at the École Militaire.
