Institute for Advanced Studies in National Defence
The Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN) is a national public administrative body under the supervision of the Prime Minister and, more specifically, of the Secrétariat général à la défense et à la sécurité nationale (SGDSN).
The Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN) prepares leaders from all spheres of activity to assume the highest responsibilities by developing their understanding of national defence and security issues, their knowledge of related public policies, their perception of the interplay of players involved in their implementation, and their aptitude for strategic thinking. The training provided as part of the national session is designed to enable all students to grasp from the outset the cross-sectoral, interdisciplinary, interministerial, European and international dimensions of defence and security issues through a common foundation and in-depth study of 5 major areas (Armament and the Defence Economy, Economic Defence and Security, Maritime Issues and Strategies, Defence Policy, Digital Sovereignty and Cybersecurity).
The IHEDN, working to build and disseminate a common defence culture, helps to forge lasting links between senior public and private, civilian and military officials.
Job description
Reporting to the Head of Office, the Deputy is responsible for providing logistical support for the school's training activities in liaison with the operational departments.
To do this, he or she has a portfolio of files of his or her own, provides day-to-day support to the Head of Office and acts as his or her deputy (supervising three category B or equivalent staff: civilians and military personnel).
In this capacity, it :
- puts together the logistics files entrusted to it (proposals for orders/quotations essential to the proper execution of training activities by means of requests for logistics services (DPL) and submits them to the departments concerned for approval, then to the BAFJ; monitors the execution of contracts and orders by being the single point of contact with external civilian and military service providers (booking of rooms, transport, hotels, catering, other services, etc.);
- supervises the preparation of logistics files for the office's three agents;
- supervises the certification of services rendered so that the BAFJ can make payments;
- contributes to the drafting of final reports on assignments presented to the Teaching Council and implements the Council's recommendations;
- monitors the school's calendar of activities and any changes to it, as approved by the CODIR;
- assists in drafting the technical clauses of contracts and agreements within its scope, in liaison with the BAFJ.
He/she takes part in all the structuring actions relating to the smooth running of the office (drafting/updating procedures/instructions, contributions to the establishment's annual activity report, management chart, in-house training, etc.).
