"Forty articles - On France, Germany, the war, politics and the international scene, 1933-1937

Livre "quarante articles" - sur la France, l’Allemagne, la guerre, la politique et la scène internationale, 1933-1937

These texts were written by Charles de Gaulle, usually in extenso, sometimes with a circumstantial insertion by André Pironneau. Signed by Pironneau to cover the officer exposed to the risks of "hierarchical disapproval", they are unpublished but provide a better understanding of their author: his campaign in the 1930s to defend France in a Europe under the threat of Hitler; his political thinking and opinions, which are part of an international dimension that sheds light on the future statesman. Accessible to readers for the first time since their publication, with the introductions and annotations required to illuminate their historical context far removed from the contemporary world, the articles will also give the literary pleasure of recognising the singular pen of the great man.
