This module will bring together around 25 participants from the institutions, organisations and agencies of the European Union and its Member States, and will be structured around ten or so lectures and round tables. The final morning of the course will be devoted to group work on cybersecurity incidents with geopolitical consequences.<\/p>

This course will provide an opportunity to discuss the principles and international standards governing the concept of cyber diplomacy and, more broadly, cyber space, and to look at the various geopolitical issues at stake, particularly with regard to the dynamics of disinformation and so-called influence operations. It is also an opportunity to discuss confidence-building measures and capabilities in cyberspace.<\/p>

The course was opened on Tuesday 17 January by Colonel Josef Schroefl<\/strong>Deputy Director of Strategy and Defence at the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats. The key note speaker stressed the importance of continuing to develop common responses at EU level to cyber threats. The course will conclude with a presentation by Ambassador Lu\u00eds Manuel Barreira De Sousa<\/strong>Special Ambassador for Cybersecurity and Cyber Diplomacy at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Advance course on Cyber Diplomacy<\/em><\/strong>Brussels, January 17-19th<\/sup> 2022<\/p>

Hosted by the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) in Brussels, the course entitled \"\u00a0Advanced course on Cyber Diplomacy<\/em>\u00a0\", jointly organized by the Department of Europe and International Affairs of the IHEDN and its Portuguese counterpart, the National Defense Institute (Instituto da Defesa Nacional - IDN), has started today in Brussels. The seminar gathers around 25 attendees from EU institutions and agencies and from the EU member states, and, it is composed of ten conferences and panels. A simulation group exercise on cyber incidents with diplomatic effects will be organized the last day of training.<\/p>

The course represents the opportunity for the attendees to follow conferences dealing with the international law on cyber questions, evoke the different geopolitical issues related to cyber and especially regarding disinformation and influence operations. It equally provides the occasion to discuss measures of trust and capabilities reinforcement.\u00a0<\/p>

The seminar was opened by the Colonel Josef Schroefl<\/strong>The Key Note speaker underlined the need of continuing the development of cooperation at EU level regarding cyber threats.
