Tuesday 25 April 2023 saw the start of the fourth and final week of the 231st session in the Burgundy-Franche-Comt\u00e9 region, once again featuring high-level conferences and major visits.<\/p>

After being welcomed at the Maison R\u00e9gionale de l'Innovation to attend a conference on the challenges facing the Burgundy Franche-Comt\u00e9 region, the 38 auditors visited the National Gendarmerie School in Dijon. A visit to the Commissariat \u00e0 l'\u00e9nergie atomique (CEA) in Valduc gave them an insight into the infrastructure of a pioneering site in the research and manufacture of nuclear technologies.<\/p>

After further lectures on counter-terrorism and civilian issues in the Eastern France defence and security zone, the audience visited the Chalon-sur-Sa\u00f4ne joint oil base and the Safran Electronics & Defense industrial site in Dijon. The site assembles military electronic equipment, including periscopes for the French Navy and sights mounted on French tanks.<\/p>

The regional session ended on Friday 28 April at the Bourgogne-Franche-Comt\u00e9 regional council in Dijon after four intense weeks of training. The auditors presented the results of their committee work to the various authorities present, Lieutenant General Benoit Durieux, Director of the IHEDN, Lieutenant General Alexandre d'Andoque, OGZDS Est, Sub-Prefect Jean-Michel Delvert, Head of the Regional and Specialised Activities Department of the IHEDN, and General Officers Eric Bometon, Session Director, and Jon Cresswell, Deputy General for Operations (GAOPS) at the 1st Division Headquarters.<\/p>

At the closing ceremony, and after the closing speeches by the Director of the IHEDN and sub-prefect F\u00e9d\u00e9ric Carre, Secretary General of the C\u00f4te d'Or Prefecture, representing prefect Franck Robine, prefect of the Bourgogne Franche-Comt\u00e9 region, In the presence of the Rector, Nathalie Albert-Moretti, Rector of the Academic Region, the 38 new auditors received the certificate that confers this quality and reinforces their desire to promote and disseminate the spirit of defence, in accordance with the Institute's mission.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After a welcome at the Pr\u00e9fecture du Doubs by Prefect Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Colombet<\/span><\/strong>In Besan\u00e7on, listeners attended high-level lectures on the challenges facing the French defence industry and the armed forces health service. They then followed a guided remembrance tour of the Besan\u00e7on Citadel.<\/p>

The following day, they headed for Thoraise, home of the 19th Engineer Regiment. They embarked on a light crossing vehicle and discovered the many missions of the engineers through presentations of equipment used to support the deployment of military operations.<\/p>

At the end of the day, Major General Pierre-Yves Rondeau<\/span><\/strong> welcomed listeners to the H\u00f4tel de Cl\u00e9vans, a place steeped in the history and memory of the Resistance.<\/p>

A visit to SDIS 25 on Thursday, accompanied by a presentation of the Doubs departmental fire brigade, gave the audience an insight into the issues and procedures involved in crisis management.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The 231e<\/sup> session in the Bourgogne Franche-Comt\u00e9 region continued on Tuesday 4 April. The programme for this second week included a visit to the Bure military training camp in Switzerland. Participants had the chance to watch various military exercises and talk to a number of officers and soldiers in training. It was a rich and particularly dynamic visit, which gave listeners a unique insight into the link between the army and the nation and the dissemination of the spirit of defence.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To mark the 1re<\/sup> 231 weeke<\/sup> session in the IHEDN regions, the auditors were immediately immersed in the educational triptych specific to the institute: lectures, committee work and visits to military, industrial and security-related sites. On 29 March, the auditors were welcomed at Avord air base 702 by Colonel Gros<\/span><\/strong>base commander. They discovered the transport aviation school, a ground-air defence squadron and the airborne detection unit equipped with AWACS radar aircraft.<\/p>

The following day, a visit to the ARQUUS site immersed the audience in a defence industry production site and its cutting-edge expertise. Lectures on issues such as France's defence strategy and the strategic challenges of cyber technology highlighted the key issues at stake in national defence. In the following weeks, the auditors will travel to Belfort, Besan\u00e7on and Dijon to continue this training course, which has a national content and format, but is also available in the region.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On the opening day of the 231e<\/sup> session in the Bourgogne Franche-Comt\u00e9 region of the IHEDN, the 38 auditors met in Nevers on 28 March 2022.<\/p>

They were welcomed to the Ni\u00e8vre prefecture by Mr Yoann de Ballangen<\/span><\/strong>the Prefect's Chief of Staff. Sub-prefect Jean-Michel Delvert<\/span><\/strong>The Director of the Department of Regional and Specialised Activities at the IHEDN, representing the Director of the IHEDN, gave the opening address to the session. Lieutenant General Alexandre d'Andoque<\/span><\/strong>The General Officer of the Defence and Security Zone (OGZDS) welcomes our listeners.<\/p>

The schedule for the session in the region, its four stages in Nevers, Belfort, Besan\u00e7on and Dijon, and its programme were presented by\u00a0 Brigadier General J\u00e9r\u00f4me Pellistrandi<\/span><\/strong>deputy director and educational coordinator of IHEDN's regional and specialised activities department, and Air Force Brigadier General Eric Bometon<\/span><\/strong>The session will include: visits to industrial, military and security-related sites; high-level conferences; and committee work.<\/p>

After a cocktail offered by Mr Daniel Barnier<\/span><\/strong>the Prefect of the Ni\u00e8vre, listeners were treated to a panorama of the contemporary world, presented by Mr Guillaume Lasconjarias<\/span><\/strong>head of the studies and research department at IHEDN.
