This training course brings together 49 executives and managers living in French Polynesia and local players. It is organised by IHEDN with the support of the French Overseas Departments and Territories (DGOM) and the civil and military authorities based in French Polynesia.<\/p>

The programme for this session includes high-level lectures, the first of which was given by S\u00e9mir Al Wardi, professor at the University of French Polynesia, on the panorama of the contemporary world. Visits to military and industrial sites also enrich the course content.<\/p>

The maritime issues facing French Polynesia were studied from the start of the session: presentation of the Navy and visit to the Papeete naval base; visit to the fishing port company and \"tuna geopolitics\"; then presentation of the issues facing the autonomous port of Papeete.<\/p>

\u00a0The military dimension of the programme was discussed at the R\u00e9giment d'infanterie de marine du Pacifique - Polyn\u00e9sie, and at the Groupement a\u00e9ronautique militaire de Faa'a. The evolution of conflict (by Lieutenant General Marc Ollier, Inspector of the Armed Forces) and deterrence (by the CEP division of the \u00c9cole militaire Interarmes) were also presented to the audience. A visit to the Moruroa site will follow this lecture.<\/p>

The interministerial nature of the programme has already been highlighted by speeches on the challenges of communications (submarine cables and satellites, by the Chairman of Tahiti Nui Telecom), civil aviation (by the Director of the State Civil Aviation Department in French Polynesia), and the energy transition in French Polynesia (by EDT Engie). Visits to the EDT Engie thermal power plant and the IFREMER Pacific centre (with a focus on applied research) provided further food for thought for the audience.<\/p>

On 13 March, at the end of the last lecture of the day, the IHEDN auditors and management team were honoured by a visit from Moetai Brotherson, President of French Polynesia. He took the time to speak to them and answer their questions.<\/p>

This week, the auditors continue their discovery of defence and national security before presenting the conclusions of their committee work on Friday 22 March.<\/p>

Another highlight of the week was the 141st youth cycle in French Polynesia. The 35 young auditors were welcomed on 18 March by Lieutenant General Beno\u00eet Durieux, Director of the IHEDN.
