She shows how this \u00absacred defence\u00bb permeates historiography, memory culture and security doctrine, while influencing Iran's current regional strategy.<\/p><ul><li><strong>Memory prize <\/strong><strong>(\u20ac1,500 each, tied)<\/strong><strong> :<\/strong><ul><li><em>Nathan Hourcade<\/em><em>,<\/em> <em><strong>Diplomatic relations between France and Ukraine as a new international player at the end of the USSR (1985-2005)<\/strong><\/em>, Paris Cit\u00e9 University.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p>Nathan Hourcade traces the evolution of Franco-Ukrainian relations, from the Soviet context to the Orange Revolution. He highlights France's strategic caution, structural cooperation and Ukraine's geopolitical role between Russia, the EU and NATO.<\/p><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li><em>Pierre-Nicolas NABET<\/em><em>,<\/em> <em><strong>The impact of strategic cyber warfare: a reassessment of US cyber doctrine in the light of the Russian-Ukrainian war<\/strong><\/em>, Sciences Po Paris and King's College London.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p>Pierre-Nicolas Nabet examines American cyber doctrine in light of the conflict in Ukraine. He highlights the limitations of cyber coercion, the importance of public-private partnerships, and the need to further integrate cyber at the tactical and operational levels.<\/p><ul><li><strong>Special prize (\u20ac1,000)<\/strong><strong> :<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p><em>Dr Camille Escud\u00e9<\/em><em>,<\/em> <em><strong>A geopolitics of the Arctic Council: when politics (un)shapes geographical space<\/strong><\/em>, chapter published in <em>The Arctic in the international system<\/em> (Quebec University Press, 2024).<\/p><p>Camille Escud\u00e9 explores Arctic governance and shows how geopolitical rivalries, local actors and cartographic discourse are transforming this space.<\/p><p>After the ceremony, our four winners agreed to answer our questions about their motivations, methods, perspectives, and more. Research is a long-term endeavour, but every idea is worth expressing.<br \/>Pierre-Nicolas Nabet<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Nothing can be taken for granted. Geopolitics requires humility: when I began my work, I thought the Arctic was at peace. Since 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine, I have had to revise my conclusions and try to understand the new geopolitical issues in this region.<br \/>Camille Cette \u00e9dition 2025, marqu\u00e9e par un nombre particuli\u00e8rement \u00e9lev\u00e9 de candidatures et l\u2019ouverture d\u2019un nouveau \u00ab Prix sp\u00e9cial \u00bb, a mis \u00e0 l\u2019honneur quatre laur\u00e9ats dont les recherches \u00e9clairent les grands enjeux contemporains de d\u00e9fense, de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et de relations internationales. Les prix ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remis par le directeur de l\u2019IHEDN, lors d\u2019une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie au cours de laquelle chaque laur\u00e9at a prononc\u00e9 un discours revenant sur ses travaux, ses motivations et ses perspectives. Ces interventions ont illustr\u00e9 la richesse du dialogue entre monde acad\u00e9mique et strat\u00e9gique que l\u2019Institut entend promouvoir.
