Organisé dans le cadre du Collège Européen de Sécurité et de Défense (CESD), le cours « Changement climatique et sécurité » a débuté ce jour à Bruxelles par deux conférences sur le thème de la vulnérabilité des États face aux conséquences du réchauffement climatique d’une part, et des politiques mises en place pour y répondre d’autre part.
Plusieurs experts ont livré leurs analyses sur les futurs scénarios relatifs au dérèglement climatique dont M. Cyril Loisel, expert auprès de la DG CLIMA (Directorate-General for Climate Action) de la Commission européenne et le professeur Andreas Fischlin, vice-président du groupe de travail II (Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnérabilités) du GIEC.
Climate change and security, Brussels November 29-December 1st 2022
Hosted by the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) in Brussels, the « Climate change and security » course started this morning with two conferences, one on States’ vulnerability regarding climate change and the other one related to the policies with a worldwide and European perspective. Several high-level experts discussed the future scenarios on climate change and vulnerability such as Mr. Cyril Loisel, Senior climate expert DG CLIMA (Directorate-General for Climate Action) at the European Commission and Prof. em. Dr. Andreas Fischlin, Vice-Chairman of the Work Group II (Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Organized by the Department of Europe and International Affairs of IHEDN, together with the German think-tank adelphi, the course adopts a theoretical and practical approach with innovative interactive exercises: UNSC negotiation simulations and scenarios based interactive workshops on climate change and security.
