Organisé par le Département de l’Europe et des Affaires internationales de l’IHEDN dans le cadre du Collège Européen de Sécurité et de Défense (CESD), le cours « The challenges of space for the European union & CSDP » a débuté ce jour à l’École militaire – Paris. Ce module réunit environ 35 participants des institutions, organisations et agences de l’Union Européenne et de ses États Membres, et s’articulera autour d’une dizaine de conférences et tables rondes.
Ce cours sera l’occasion d’échanger sur les enjeux du domaine spatial pour l’UE et ses pays membres et de réfléchir ensemble aux moyens de notre autonomie stratégique dans ce domaine ; en particulier la nécessité de forger une vision commune de ces défis et d’apporter des réponses efficaces dans les domaines militaires ou industriels en s’appuyant sur des partenariats.
Le cours a été ouvert ce mardi 14 février par M. Patrick Chatard Moulin, envoyé spécial adjoint pour l’espace au Service européen d’Action extérieure. Il a pu ainsi souligner l’importance de continuer à développer des réponses communes au niveau de l’UE dans le domaine spatial. La formation s’achèvera par une intervention de Xavier Pasco, Directeur de la Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique (FRS).
Course on « The challenges of space for the European union & CSDP »
Military school – Paris, February 14 -16th 2023
Hosted by the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), the course entitled « The challenges of space for the European union & CSDP » organized by the Department of Europe and International Affairs of the IHEDN has started today in Paris. The seminar gathers around 35 attendees from EU institutions, bodies and agencies and from the EU member states, and is composed of ten conferences and panels.
The course represents the opportunity for the attendees to touch upon the many challenges of space security, and explore the capabilities for the EU and its member states to ensure strategic autonomy in that field, especially by forging a common understanding of these challenges, and develop common responses in terms of military, industry, innovation and research.
The seminar was opened by M. Patrick Chatard Moulin, Deputy Special Envoy for Space at the European External Action Service. The Key Note speaker underlined the importance and cooperation at EU level in the development of a common vision and strategy. The seminar will end with a concluding speech given by Xavier Pasco, Director of the Strategic Research Foundation (FRS).
