Pierre Haroche will decipher developments in transatlantic relations and Europe's defence and security posture since the invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022.
"Le réveil européen et transatlantique", the third volume in the Rubicon series, looks at the political and military consequences for Europe and NATO of Russia's war in Ukraine. It looks at military spending in Europe, the notion of power on a continental scale, the strategic approach adopted by the Biden administration and Canada's position on the war. Pierre Haroche will review the history of European defence and the resources deployed in recent years to strengthen European security. Finally, he will look at the avenues being explored to strengthen a "common defence".
Pierre Haroche holds a doctorate in political science and is a specialist in EU integration and defence policy. He teaches at Queen Mary University in London. He previously served at the Institut de recherche stratégique de l'École militaire (IRSEM), King's College London and the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne.
