Closing of the 9th International Latin America and Caribbean Session at the École Militaire

The 9e international Latin America and Caribbean session (SIAL) ended on Saturday 12 March 2022 with a closing speech by theAmbassador Pierre-Henri GuignardSpecial Envoy for the Tropical Forest Conservation Alliance.

From 6 to 13 March, the 26 civilian and military auditors from Latin America and the Caribbean attended study conferences and visits to military sites, including the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP), on the theme : France and Latin America, united in the face of new security and defence challenges.

At the end of their committee work, the auditors were presented with their diplomas by Prefect Denis Conusdeputy director of the IHEDN, of Ambassador Sylvain Bergerdirector of the Institute's Department of Europe and International Affairs, and the Lieutenant-Colonel Sébastien GiordanoLatin America geographic officer in the Directorate for Security and Defence Cooperation (DCSD) at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE).

The 9th International Latin America and Caribbean (SIAL) session ended on Saturday March 12, 2022 with a closing speech by Ambassador Pierre-Henri Guignard, Special Envoy for the Alliance for the Preservation of Tropical Forests.

From March 6 to 13, 26 civil and military auditors from Latin America and the Caribbean attended conferences and visited French military sites, including Paris Fire Brigade, around the topic: France and Latin America, united in the face of new challenges security and defence. 

At the end of the presentation of their committee work, the auditors received their diploma from the hands of the prefect Denis Conus, deputy director of the IHEDN, Ambassador Sylvain Berger, director of the Department for Europe and International Affairs of the Institute, and Lieutenant-Colonel Sébastien Giordano, Geographical Officer of Latin America within the Directorate of Security and Defense Cooperation (DCSD) at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

La 9e Latin America and Caribbean international session (SIAL) began on 7 March 2022, with the presence of the Lieutenant General Thierry MARCHANDDirector of Security and Defence Cooperation (DCSD) and theAmbassador Sylvain BERGERDirector of the Europe and International Affairs Department at IHEDN.

Until 13 March, the 26 civilian and military auditors from Latin America and the Caribbean will be able to take advantage of study conferences and visits to military sites on the theme: France and Latin America, united in the face of new security and defence challenges.

During the conferences, the participants will be encouraged to take part in high-level strategic reflection to promote the convergence of ideas and debates in the fields of cooperation, security and defence between the two continents. They will be supplemented by the presentation of work carried out by the auditors in committees.

It was a session under the banner of cooperation, the key word in a week of intense discoveries.

The 9th International Latin America and Caribbean session was opened on March 7, 2022 by Lieutenant General Thierry MARCHAND, Director of Security and Defense Cooperation (DCSD) and by Ambassador Sylvain BERGER, Director of the department for european and international affairs of IHEDN.

Until March 13th, the 26 civilian and military auditors from Latin America and the Caribbean will attend conferences and discover military sites, around the topic: France and Latin America, facing new security and defense challenges.

During the conferences, the auditors will take part to a high-level strategic reflection allowing the convergence of ideas and debates around the fields of cooperation, security and defence between the two continents. At the end of the session, the auditors will present their committee works.
