In this educational and structured text, the author puts the war in Ukraine into perspective with the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s. Using a comparative approach, he questions the idea that war has 'returned' to Europe for the first time since 1945. More fundamentally, he highlights the flaws in the analysis of the Yugoslav conflicts and the effects they continue to generate, including in our understanding of the war in Ukraine.
