In this article, Jean-Marie Guéhenno explains that the war in Ukraine heralds a new era in the history of conflict. He presents it as both a total war (for Ukraine) and a limited war (for Western countries and Russia). He identifies four strategic consequences of this war: the loss of Europe's centrality, the acceleration of a lasting weakening of Russia, the probable worsening of Europe's dependence on the United States, and the as yet uncertain impact on China.
