Organised under the aegis of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), the course entitled "The European Union and the challenges of hybrid threats" opened today with a speech by Lieutenant General Patrick Destremau, Director of the Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale (IHEDN).

Prepared and run by IHEDN's Department of Europe and International Affairs (DEAI), this session will be held exclusively online for health reasons. This course, which will alternate a rich programme of presentations and round tables, will be held over three days from 8 to 10 December 2020. It brings together 34 participants from various European Union Member States.

The content of this course will enable students to familiarise themselves with all the diplomatic, institutional, legal and operational issues relating to the concepts of hybrid threats and wars, after attempting to define the limits of these constantly evolving terms.

The course entitled "The European union facing hybrid threats challenges", organized within the framework of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) has started this morning with an opening address by the Lieutenant-General Destremau, Director of the Institute for Higher National Defence Studies (IHEDN).
 
Organised and conducted by the Department for Europe and International Affairs of the IHEDN, this course is virtually held, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It centres around conferences and roundtables scheduled from December 8 to December 10. The course gathers 34 participants from different Member States of the European Union.
 
It will give the participants the opportunity to gain a deeper knowledge as regards diplomatic, institutional, legal and operational issues and challenges related to hybrid threats and hybrid warfare, concepts constantly evolving.
