Integrated management of the European Union's external crises

From 23 to 25 February, under the aegis of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), the IHEDN Europe and International Affairs Department organised a course on the integrated management of external crises in the European Union (EU Integrated Crisis Management).

The course was attended by 39 civil and military officials from EU Member States and a number of European institutions and agencies.

The course programme was structured around 9 lectures and round tables involving 25 speakers.

The opening speech, given by Mr Stefano Tomat, Director of the Integrated Approach to Security and Peace Department at the EEAS, also provided an opportunity for a discussion on the theme of "Peace and Security". The EU Global Strategy as regards crisis management. Olivier LUYCKX, Head of the Resilience, Peace and Security Unit in the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG.INTPA), brought the course to a close with a speech on the theme of "Resilience, Peace and Security".
