Recent months have been marked by the redefinition of transatlantic relations, the ongoing war in Ukraine and the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. More broadly, these events reflect a profound challenge to multilateral balances and the assertion of power politics. It is against this backdrop, characterised by profound strategic realignments, that the fourth edition of the National Defence Yearbook, entitled «Acting in a Fractured World», is published.
The book brings together some twenty civilian and military authors to analyse the key events of the past year and examine the strategies that contribute to the defence and security of the French people; It thus covers such fundamental topics as the credibility of France’s nuclear deterrent, the new national service scheme and the national cybersecurity strategy.
The launch event will provide an opportunity to discover the book and talk to several of its authors. It will be a special occasion to take a step back from current strategic developments and reflect together on the challenges ahead.
