Over the last ten years or so, Ukraine has regularly made the headlines in our media, coming to the forefront of the international scene, whether through its protest movements or tensions with its Russian neighbour. Since 2014 and Russia's annexation of Crimea, the reality of a war on Europe's doorstep has become clear, highlighting, among other things, the many interdependencies (energy, food, etc.) with global repercussions.

Lecturer in political science at the University of Burgundy and professor at Sciences Po Paris, Alexandra Goujon is the author of Ukraine, from independence to warpublished at Blue rider in 2021.

Specialist in the post-Soviet states and the European Neighbourhood Policy, Alexandra Goujon will speak at the IHEDN's next strategic debate on 11 October at 6.30pm to present the main issues and put the war initiated by Russia on 24 February 2022 into perspective.
