2e parliamentary assistant cycle

From 10 to 12 January, the IHEDN organised the 2e cycle for parliamentary assistants. The course, which was opened by Prefect Denis Conus, Deputy Director of the IHEDN, enabled 36 parliamentary assistants to gain a comprehensive understanding of defence and security issues and challenges in relation to current affairs.

The cycle also welcomed 9 government administrators from the Ministry of the Armed Forces as part of their integration programme.

The programme included high-level lectures on the major issues in national defence and security, the institutional functioning of defence, an overview of the contemporary world, France's defence strategy, Europe, NATO, the missions of the armed forces at home and abroad, and the defence budget.

The final day was devoted to two visits to defence-related sites: on 12e regiment of Cuirassiers; BA 123 at Orléans-Bricy, where parliamentary assistants had access to the impressive Airbus A400M Atlas.
