On Monday 19 October 2020, the Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN) is taking part in the second module of the European session on security and defence. " European Advanced Strategic Course on Security and Defence" organised jointly by the Egmont Institute (IRRI) and the Bundesakademie für Sicherheitspolitik (BAKS) in partnership with the European Security and Defence College (ESDC).
This module, which will be held on 19, 20 and 21 October 2020, is organised by videoconference in accordance with the health regulations in force in Germany. It brings together high-level European civilian and military auditors as well as academics.
The second module was opened by Niel Annen, German Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. The debates enabled listeners to consider how to reform the governance of European defence. Participants examined civilian and military responses to international crises. Finally, the discussions identified ways of improving cooperation between NATO and the EU to ensure the defence of the European continent.
This innovative training programme responds in particular to the wish of the President of the French Republic to create a common strategic culture and should help to strengthen European sovereignty. The students will meet again for the third and final module in Paris from 1 to 3 December.
This new training concept is a necessary contribution to tomorrow's defence in Europe.
