War and peace

The great powers are resuming their strategic competition, Donald Trump is spreading his isolationist vision of the world, terrorism is going global, China is becoming the new giant, Russia is regaining its aggressiveness, wars are going cyber... All these are signs that the international order as we know it has had its day. If one term were to sum up the pivotal period we are living through, it would be the retreat of international relations: the retreat of security, stability and multilateralism. In order to better understand the current reconfiguration of the world system, this reference work presents, in a pedagogical and critical manner, the fundamental concepts of strategy and security studies, and reviews the changing nature of war, the possibilities for conflict regulation and peace strategies in the 21st century.
