On 25 and 26 April, the 60th class of the "Armaments and Defence Economics" major of the IHEDN national session travelled to Toulouse for a study mission devoted to the aeronautics and space sector.

The first visit was to CNES, where the auditors were given joint presentations by CNES and the Space Command, which served as a reminder of CNES's major contribution to the influence of French space policy and put the Space Command's missions into perspective.

Then, thanks to various visits and workshops at the Earth Observation Laboratory, the Pleiades satellite control centre and the non-magnetic laboratory, participants were able to get an overview of CNES's civil and military space activities.

Later, the auditors discovered a DTIB SME by visiting AGENIUM, an integrator of complex solutions, which brings together different areas of expertise, ranging from simulation to embedded Artificial Intelligence, including obsolescence management and SSA (Space Surveillance).

Finally, the following day, the IHEDN delegation visited Airbus Defence & Space, Europe's space industrial champion, and Safran Power Units, a leader in auxiliary power systems and turbojet engines. They were able to appreciate the reality of a real ramp-up in production to meet the needs of a war economy.

The IHEDN delegation appreciated the warm welcome they received at the various sites.
