Organised as part of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), the course entitled "Intelligence and Security in the EU: Challenges and Opportunities" began in Brussels on Tuesday 24 November with face-to-face lectures on the complexity of the intelligence cycle, the diversity of existing and future sensors and the technological challenges of mastering them. A number of high-level academic and institutional experts gave their analyses of the challenges and limitations of intelligence, which cannot completely dispel the fog of war.

Prepared and run by the IHEDN's Department of Europe and International Affairs (DEAI), this is a pilot session on a subject that is still very rarely addressed at the CESD, yet is crucial, as demonstrated by the work on the Strategic Compass.
