France 2030: an economic response to the challenges of tomorrow

In this summary and educational document, the DGE presents the France 2030 plan, launched a year ago, placing it in the more general context of the evolution of industrial strategies at national and European level. The authors focus more specifically on four issues covered by the plan: hydrogen, health, recycling and the environment.

The 229e session in the Occitanie region

To mark the opening of the 229e session in the Occitanie region on 15 November 2022, Mr Michaël Delafosse, Mayor and President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, represented by Mr Sébastien Cote, Deputy for Security and Military Affairs, warmly welcomed the 47 auditors to Montpellier City Hall. Russia's return to Africa: a threat to French influence on the continent?

The analysis retraces the evolution of Russia's presence in Africa from the end of the Cold War to the present day and looks at how France is reacting to the return of competition between powers and its direct consequences on the African continent.
Africa has long been linked to France, and has been the scene of numerous external operations by the French army in recent decades. It is now at the heart of struggles for influence and the exploitation of strategic resources, sometimes reminiscent of the practices of the Cold War era.
Despite Moscow's return to the continent, Washington is pursuing the pivot policy initiated under the Obama administration and concentrating its efforts in Asia to contain the rise of its rival China. As a result, France finds itself in the front line in the fight against armed terrorist groups and is seeing its influence diminish in the face of Russia's disinformation policies and Russian private military companies, which already have a strong presence in the Central African Republic and Mali.
