China uses its economic power and the dependence of certain countries on its exports or imports to its vast domestic market as a lever of influence. Take, for example, the halting of exports of rare earths to Japan in 2010. This makes it all the more necessary to reflect on the possibility of preserving a form of autonomy by guarding against the most restrictive effects that states could suffer in the event of Chinese sanctions. Behind the term resilience lies the question of the limits of the PRC's economic influence.
