France's external operations

Since the beginning of the 21ste Since the beginning of the 20th century, France's external operations (opex), i.e. interventions by its armed forces abroad, have multiplied. Thousands of soldiers are now deployed in several external theatres, particularly in the Sahel and the Levant. At a time when these operations are facing growing challenges as threats intensify and diversify, this book takes stock of the framework within which operations are carried out and draws some lessons from feedback. Bringing together military and civilian perspectives, theory and practice, in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach (history, law, political science, sociology), it provides a better understanding of this important yet little-known dimension of French foreign policy.
