The Head of the Studies and Research Department, Professor Olivier Schmitt, has published a chapter on the evolution of alliances and coalitions since 1945 in the fourth volume of the "Mondes en Guerre" series, edited by Louis Gautier.
The chapter examines the reasons for the exceptional longevity of the alliances formed at the start of the Cold War, their role in international strategic competition, and the evolution of forms of defence cooperation.
