The Defence and Economic Security major immersed in Bordeaux

From 19 to 21 October 2022, the 36 students in the IHEDN's "Economic Defence and Security" major travelled to Bordeaux to find out about the players and resources involved in economic strategy in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region.

The Director of the Centre d'Études Scientifiques et Techniques de l'Aquitaine, Mr Stéphane BarréThis was a fascinating discovery, at the crossroads of fundamental physics research, French deterrence strategy and the economic life of the "Laser Route".

At the Prefecture of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, a series of conferences - introduced by the Secretary General for Regional Affairs - will take place, Mr Patrick Amoussou-Adéblé - made them aware of the economic and economic security issues at stake. Welcome from the Prefect of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Ms Fabienne BuccioThis fascinating day was rounded off by a visit to the historic Hôtel du Nesmond.

On the final day, the audience had the opportunity to discover the Thalès campus in Mérignac: its director, Jean-Noël StockThe former IHEDN auditor gave us an overview of its characteristics and missions, before taking us through the main workshops, in particular on airborne radar maintenance.

A visit to Amplitude Laser, in the commune of Pessac, gave us an opportunity to see for ourselves the strength of the competitiveness cluster built around lasers: the site manager and director of operations, Mr Pierre Rigail made no secret of the technological, economic, security and strategic aspects of its business.
