The trip was punctuated by a wide range of simulated situations similar to what soldiers experience when they take their first steps in operational preparation. The programme included shooting simulation, an introduction to night-time progression, combat first aid, CBRN decontamination, a presentation of land-based equipment, a visit to a World War 1 site and a fireside evening.
In all three regiments, the welcome was remarkable and particularly appreciated by the auditors. Apart from a few aches and pains when they returned from their missions, these immersions were rich in lessons and left a lasting impression on the auditors.
