Mission Indonesia for the "Armaments and Defence Economics" major of the IHEDN national session
After a twenty-hour journey, the "Armaments and Defence Economics" major of the IHEDN national session arrived in Indonesia on Monday 16 May.
First stop, Jakarta.
The first evening was devoted to a meeting with French industrialists established in the country, including major manufacturers in the arms sector, as well as representatives of the banking sector.
The very next day, listeners were able to meet the French ambassador, His Excellency Olivier ChambardThe visit will be accompanied by a comprehensive presentation of the archipelago, bilateral relations between our two countries and France's specific activities in Indonesia, together with his main advisors in the economic, scientific and cultural fields.
The audience then moved on to theLemhannas Institute - the equivalent of IHEDN, which reports directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia - for a working and exchange seminar.
Round-table discussions on the defence economy and French and Indonesian new technology strategies brought together listeners and members of Lemhannas.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to strengthen existing links between the two institutes and to consider the future of their partnership.
Finally, the day ended with a reception at the Residence de France, to continue the discussions begun in the morning.
It was a rich first day, which will be followed in the coming days by visits to Indonesian military bases and industrial sites.
