Orange at the heart of the 239e session in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region

After an initial week in Nice, during which the 50 auditors were introduced to the fundamentals of national defence, they met again from 24 to 27 September in the town of Orange. On the programme: learning about France's armed forces and defence system and putting them into practice during committee work.

The auditors were welcomed at Air Force Base 115, giving them a full immersion in the missions of the French Air Force and Space Agency. In particular, they discovered the parachute commandos and the squadrons dedicated to the permanent air security posture (PPSA). The following day, the participants were received at the 1er régiment étranger de Génie. Dynamic presentations of land and river security operations gave them a better understanding of the uniqueness of the Foreign Legion within the armed forces.

On the agenda for this week's strategic conferences: the defence technological and industrial base (DTIB), nuclear deterrence, the challenges of space for national defence and cyber security. These are all subjects that make up and structure today's strategic environment. The link between the visits and the lectures was immediately put to good use by the auditors in their committee work.

Next stage: the auditors will meet again for a third week of training in Toulon.
