Using 165 images from French army archives, Pierre Journoud tells the story of the battle of Dien Bien Phu. More specifically, he looks back at the origins of the battle and some of the key episodes of the last major confrontation of the Indochina War, such as Operation Castor (the dropping of Lieutenant-Colonel Bigeard's paratroopers into the Dien Bien Phu basin), the installation of the soldiers in the camp, life in the trenches, the increasingly difficult reconnaissance operations, the confrontation with the Viet Minh, which began on 13 March 1954, and so on.
