With Lula back at the helm of Brazil, how can we rethink our strategic defence partnership?

This text presents the prospects for the development of Brazilian foreign policy in the context of Lula's third term in office. More specifically, it highlights the main challenges facing this government in terms of defence and armaments, and suggests ways in which military cooperation between France and Brazil could be stepped up. To this end, the authors recommend using environmental issues as an entry point for launching further bilateral and multilateral defence cooperation with the Brazilian armed forces.
