In its annual document, SIPRI presents and analyses the main characteristics of the hundred largest defence and arms companies. Although slowed by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, arms sales increased worldwide in 2021. The document summarises the data for each region of the world and shows that the activities of companies in Asia and Oceania are on an upward curve, while the sale of defence products by North American companies is declining. Nevertheless, US companies still dominate the ranking. In all, 40 of the world's top 100 defence companies are based in the United States. France has 5 companies in this ranking and their sales of defence products increased by 15% in 2021.
