Closing of the National Session: "A desire for France in the face of the assertion of powers".

After a year of work and visits, the 264 auditors from the 2nd national session gathered for a closing day packed with meetings and events, including a keynote speech by former Defence and Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

A book to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the 3^e REI in French Guiana

In 2022, the 'Armaments and Defence Economics' (AED), 'Economic Defence and Security' (DSE) and 'Digital Sovereignty and Cyber Security' (SNC) majors were hosted in French Guiana by the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (REI). Heir to the Régiment de marche de la Légion étrangère (RMLE) created in 1915, the 3rd REI moved to French Guiana in 1973. The special ties forged during this visit were further strengthened last month when the 232nd session was held in the region, further cementing the regiment's partnership with the IHEDN.

The 48 auditors from the session in French Guiana met in Cayenne on 23 May 2023 for the launch of this training course organised by the Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN), with the support of the Ministry for Overseas France (DGOM).

3^e module of the European Strategic Course for Security and Defence

Tuesday 30 May saw the opening of the third module of the European Advanced Strategic Course on Security and Defence, organised by the Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN), in partnership with the Italian Centre for Advanced Defence Studies (Centro Alti Studi per la difesa), as part of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC).

From 30 May to 7 June 2023, the Ecole Militaire in Paris will be hosting the 80^e cycle in economic and strategic intelligence (IES) at the IHEDN.

Stopover in Pays de la Loire for the IHEDN "Maritime issues and strategies" major

On Friday 12 and Saturday 13 May 2023, students in the 2nd national session of the "Maritime Issues and Strategies" (ESM) major headed for the Pays de la Loire for a two-day seminar in Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. This region is a model of dynamism in the maritime sector, with nuggets in shipbuilding, marine renewable energies and innovative marine technologies. The region is also home to a key SNSM organisation: its national training centre.
