MAJOR DEFENCE POLICY
IS AIMED AT A WIDE RANGE OF HIGH-LEVEL EXECUTIVES WISHING TO ENHANCE THEIR SKILLS IN THE STRATEGIC CHALLENGES OF DEFENCE AND SECURITY POLICY.
CHALLENGES
In particular, it enables students to decipher the interplay of actors that determines the development of these policies and to question the ability of States to identify emerging threats. The course is part of a forward-looking approach and aims to place reflection within the broader perspective of a new European security architecture. It contributes to the development and improvement of the auditors' skills, which are useful in the exercise of their responsibilities.
OBJECTIVES
The 'Defence Policy' major is a top-class course that examines the foundations of defence policy while placing it in the context of the international and strategic environment. Through the contributions of leading practitioners and experts in their fields, students will be able to :
- deepen their knowledge of France's defence system, the organisation of the armed forces and the operational challenges they face;
- Understand the interdepartmental challenges of defence and security policy and the specific nature of civil-military relations;
- understand the changes in the international context, the interplay of alliances and partnerships, and analyse the adaptation of policies to the challenges;
- identify the main characteristics of contemporary conflicts and how they are changing in the light of technological, social and political dynamics ;
- analyse the tensions between military defence and wider national security issues, particularly in the economic sphere.
