The programme included a visit to France's Permanent Representation to the European Union, where the auditors discussed European ambitions and challenges in terms of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), as well as issues relating to the defence economy and industry. The next stage, at NATO headquarters, provided an opportunity to deepen understanding of the transformations underway within the Alliance, at a time when collective defence is becoming a strategic priority at global level.
Â
This mission took place in a particularly relevant context, in the wake of the publication of the White Paper on the Defence of Europe and the ReArm Europe plan, as well as the report by the European External Action Service (EEAS) on information manipulation and foreign interference. The timing of this visit could not have been better for grasping the current geopolitical challenges.
Â
Each major also had a specific programme: one was able to meet MEPs, representatives of the European Commission and industrial players to discuss sovereignty and economic security, while the other took a closer look at cybersecurity issues through exchanges with Belgian and European experts.
Â
A training and strategic mission, perfectly suited to the defence and security challenges of tomorrow.
