The 'Maritime issues and strategies' major makes a stopover at the heart of the European institutions
Listeners to channel 2 receive their second set of hearing aids outside Francee The national session of the 'Maritime Issues and Strategies' major took them to Brussels from 27 to 29 March. Between two days of reflection at the heart of the European institutions, a trip on Tuesday 28th took them to the Netherlands, a maritime Member State of the European Union (EU) par excellence, which has built its prosperity on maritime trade.
The Gulf States and the war in Ukraine
To understand the geopolitical consequences of the conflict, it is not enough to look at the war in Ukraine alone. The rest of the world is also in turmoil, particularly the Gulf States, which are gaining in political power thanks to their neutrality and the profits from hydrocarbons.
WAR IN UKRAINE: LESSONS LEARNED ONE YEAR ON
"War in Ukraine: one year on, what lessons can be learned? This was the title of the conference organised on 16 February at the École Militaire by several organisations, including the IHEDN and the IRSEM. Opened by Lieutenant General Benoît Durieux, Director of the IHEDN and Higher Military Education, and closed by Army General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, it brought together specialists from a wide range of civilian and military disciplines, researchers, doctors and officers from the three services, who shared their analyses of the lessons to be learned from the conflict.
Lt-Gen Durieux: "We need to think about the war in Ukraine, to avoid being surprised by a new tipping point in the world".
Everyone remembers that moment on 24 February 2022 when they heard the news of Russia's attack on Ukraine. Someone told you or you looked at your phone, but whichever way, you were gripped. You could hardly believe it.
